Carry the calm

Blomman™ comes to life

The very first Blomman™ bloomed at Guldviva in 1992. Since then, it has flowered year after year — through summer, autumn, winter and spring. With its five hand-forged curves, it forms a shape that so many have come to love.

Carry the calm

Handcrafted in pure gold or silver, each Blomman™ is one of a kind. Inspired by the archipelago, it carries the calm, strength and harmony of nature. More than a piece of jewellery, it’s a reminder to live with presence — wherever life takes you.

The Flower of Åland

Affectionately known as the Flower of Åland, many associate Blomman™ with the cowslip— the provincial flower of Åland.

To us, the Blomman™ is so meaningful that we chose to trademark it. That’s why you’ll always see it adorned with a small ™ at the end.

A connection across the world

I’ve lived on Åland since 1992, but I’m originally from Denham, New South Wales, Australia. Here, I discovered Guldviva’s Blomman™, which I’ve gifted to all the women in my family — my mother, sister, sister-in-law, niece, and my sister’s daughter-in-law.

When they’ve visited me, we’ve of course stopped by the Guldviva shop — where they’ve often added the larger Blomman™ to wear alongside the small one. To me, Blomman™ is not only a symbol of Åland, but a bond to my family on the other side of the world.

For me, Blomman™ symbolises courage

I was born the same year as Blomman™, and when I moved to Åland, our bond grew stronger. I wear my piece wherever I go — it feels like a part of me, a quiet source of strength.

To me, Blomman™ represents courage. I dared to leave one life behind and start another. Through all of life’s twists and turns, it’s there — reminding me to trust myself and to bloom. It’s also a meaningful gift for life’s milestones. I love giving Blomman™ to those close to me, so they too can feel the strength to blossom.

A reminder of friendship and shared history

In 1941, during the Winter War, I came to Sweden as a war child. I was just five years old, but soon found a friend — Margaretha. We didn’t speak the same language, yet we laughed, played and dreamed together. One of my fondest memories is picking big yellow cowslip bouquets each spring for our mothers.

We lost touch when I returned to Finland, but 65 years later, I found her again. She came to visit Åland when the cowslips were in bloom. Later, I brought her a Blomman™ from Guldviva — the most meaningful gift I’ve ever given a dear friend. A beautiful reminder of our friendship and shared past.
